The DONES Xcitech Scholarships aim to promote research and technology in the field of fusion, covering both technical and interdisciplinary areas. The selected candidates will attend the DONES Xcitech School 2026 in Granada and gain first-hand professional knowledge from experts in academia, industry and large-scale scientific infrastructures.
Available Scholarships
- 2 scholarships sponsored by Fusion for Energy (F4E) (open to female citizens of European Union Member States and Ukraine)
- 1 scholarship sponsored by the University of Granada: “Pilar Aranda” Scholarship (first edition) (open to female candidates of any nationality)
Applicants will be automatically considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible. No separate application is required.
What the scholarship covers
- Registration to the two courses of DONES Xcitech School 2026
- Accommodation and meals during the school
The school will take place from 8 to 12 June 2026 in Granada (Spain).
Areas of impact
- Gain first-hand knowledge from experts working in organisations such as F4E, CDTI, and members of the EUROfusion consortium
- Develop new competencies and skills aligned with their professional interests
- Access both theoretical and practical knowledge through lectures and hands-on sessions
- Discover IFMIF-DONES in depth, including its role in fusion materials testing and future energy systems
- Explore topics such as materials irradiation, lithium systems, RF accelerators, and industrial participation
- Gain insight into legal and regulatory aspects of Big Science projects, including EU law, procurement, and intellectual property
Eligibility criteria
- Be a female candidate
- Have obtained a university degree of at least three years by the application deadline
- Have a good knowledge of English (minimum B2 level or equivalent)
- Enjoy full rights as a citizen
Additional eligibility condition:
- For F4E-sponsored scholarships, applicants must be nationals of a Member State of the European Union or Ukraine
Selection will be based on:
- Academic and/or professional background
- Motivation letter

Deadline

Due to the programme timeline, the application period is shorter than usual. Selected candidates will be notified shortly after the evaluation process and are encouraged to arrange their travel promptly.
Selection timeline
- Evaluation period: 19–22 May 2026
- Notification of results: from 23 May 2026
The selection will be carried out by a committee including representatives from the University of Granada, IFMIF-DONES and partner institutions. Candidates may be assigned to different scholarships depending on eligibility and ranking.

DONES Xcitech School, as the body responsible for organising the selection process, will process personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable Spanish legislation on data protection.
